Our Hearts belong to the forest now
So Wild and free
Though now that destruction has come to us
To our hearts so wild and free
The pain of lonliness haunts us now
Hurting our hearts, so wild and free
Unconditional hope still lingers near
Lifting our hearts, so wild and free
Our Hearts belong to the forest now
And that fact is here to stay.
So Wild and free
Though now that destruction has come to us
To our hearts so wild and free
The pain of lonliness haunts us now
Hurting our hearts, so wild and free
Unconditional hope still lingers near
Lifting our hearts, so wild and free
Our Hearts belong to the forest now
And that fact is here to stay.
Long ago, a place called ‘Krise’ was peaceful. It was serene and lush, hidden away in the mountains of the planet Earth. We, a race that were the guardians of Krise, watched, somewhat envious as beasts began to inhabit this place. We always wished for ownership of this land, but we loved the animals that inhabited this place for they loved the Earth as we did. Then the last creatures appeared in Krise. This is a race we call the ‘Distruttore’, but who call themselves ‘Humans’. Our race look like these creatures, but have the ears, tails, wings, or horns of the beasts they hunted. We watched in pain as they destroyed much of Kris and the rest of Earth. The air thickened and darkened while the seas became tainted with black oils and the forests were cut down. Then, our race realized something terrifying. The Distruttore had been killing more animals than they needed for food. This angered our race, but still we stayed put, for the Distruttore were children of Earth as well. Then the worst happened, certain species of animals began to disappear at the hands of the Distruttore. That was the end of it and the more hating of our race waged war on the Distruttore. The Distruttore, who outnumbered us phenomenally, won. They extinguished more than half our race, just like they ended so many of their brothers’ and sisters’ lives before. Only few of our race survived, and most of those who did were badly injured. Some died of wounds, leaving even less of us. Barely twenty of us remained. We hid in a cave, there we found had a secret tunnel system just large enough to fit all of us. We traveled down tunnel after tunnel until we reached a cavern that had runes on the walls. Distruttore could not have read these stories printed on the walls, but our race, endowed with the gift of tongues, could clearly read them. The stories painted on the walls were of little interest to us compared to what lay on a tablet in the middle of the cavern. There we found a book, printed in the same cryptic language, speaking of the past of our race, and that of the Distruttore. We were shocked at the secrets found in that book. It told of a time long before we came to protect Krise and the rest of Earth. Of a time when curses and magic were still known to the Distruttore, before they had forgotten. It told one story in particular that caught our attention. It read as follows;
Once, when the moon was still bright, unclouded by the touch of humans, there lived a girl. The girl’s name was Luna. She was named her for her dark raven hair and her silver eyes that shimmered like moons. She was neither human nor beast, nor any mix of the two. She was an angel. One day, she was out in a forest, admiring the sky, when a lad strode up to her. His eyes were golden, but as they were caught in the sun, they seemed to glow red. His hair was bronze, like his skin. He told her his name was Sol and that he used to be an angel, but he had sinned and had become a fallen angel. He also explained he had watched her for a long time now, and that he loved her. She was astonished at this news, but agreed to run away with the lad. They traveled a long time and one day stopped to rest in a cave. Inside the cave, they found jewels and gold. They took none, knowing better from the stories of greed that they had heard. They lay down to sleep. In their sleep, a dragon appeared. Sol woke as it entered the cave and raised his sword against the dragon. He killed the old beast easily, but as it lay dying, words came from its mouth. The dying dragon uttered a curse and as the words were spoken, Sol and Luna floated upward holding each other’s hands. Then they were pulled apart, he to the sun and she to the moon. There they have been ever since, meeting only at dusk and dawn and the rare days when the moon can me seen in the day. In these times, they had two sons, one had ears and a tail like a wolf while one looked like his parents, abnormal in no way. The two sons each married and had children and became the start of humans and agroians.
Agroian, that was the name given to our race. So we were closer than we thought to the Distruttore. This shocked us. We left the cave, leaving the book there, and returned to the surface. We have lived on Earth since, among humans, them unknowing of us as we hide our ears, tails, wings, or horns. Our numbers have grown again and some of us still hold a hatred for Distruttore, others don’t, but one thing is sure, we are much closer to the Earth than the Distruttore and we feel pain with every species that disappears. Our hearts are wild, they belong to the forests of Krise.
