No New Posts The Dells

A favorite outside party site of Spenser Students. A short drive from campus and nearly remote. That doesn't mean that the cops won't show up. Nothing other than trees, hills and sand but that doesn't stop the parties from continuing.

Amherst, MA - Hiking - 3.9 miles

This modest loop climbs through forested trails to the saddle between Mt. Norwottuck (the highest peak of the Holyoke Range) and Long Mountain, reaching two stirring outlooks at Rattlesnake Knob. While you won’t see many rattlers here, the region is rich with cultural and natural history, including a museum of locally found dinosaur footprints. The short drive from I-91 to the trailhead provides stunning views of the Holyoke Range as you go up Bay Road. Pass pastures full of cows and fields full of pumpkins, corn, apples, and Christmas trees. From Rattlesnake Knob, you can hear the cattle mooing when the wind is right.
